After Action Report/Improvement Planning Training Program

The After Action Report/Improvement Planning Training Program was developed in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Missouri Hospital Association. This program was successfully pilot tested in October 2011. The course is a one day competency based course that builds upon the Exercise Evaluation Training Program (EETP) program to emphasize facility and/or jurisdiction follow-up to corrective actions and improvement planning following preparedness exercises. This course utilizes tools from the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and quality improvement approaches to identify how improvement plans can be integrated into the facility’s ongoing strategic planning and quality improvement processes.

Key objectives for the course are:

  • Describe the purpose for developing the After Action Report/Improvement Plan
  • Describe the guidelines for implementing and tracking corrective actions through the Corrective Action Program (CAP)
  • Describe the process for integrating the After Action Report/Improvement Plan into a facility’s ongoing planning and quality improvement processes

Target Audience:

This course is targeted for staffs at the middle and senior management level that have responsibilities for preparedness and operational planning, exercise planning and evaluation, quality improvement, and emergency response and recovery operations.
